If olive oil is made of olives, what is baby oil made of?

Placentas :D

isnt that dangerous seeing as wires to the screen go through the hinge?

I thought it might have been but I put a very small amount on each and so far haven't noticed any problems.

7 months since I did that and it is as quite as a sleeping baby :)

As is mine. Mine would squeak when I would so much as move the computer around, but now it doesn't make a sound.

Would olive oil work?

I wouldn't use olive oil or any oil used for cooking, as it could mold. I was going to use some oil like you use on sewing machines but we didn't have any and baby oil was readily available. WE-40 would also be a bad idea as it would probably splatter all over the place when you sprayed it.

My buddy just purchased a Macbook couple of days ago. I don't seem to notice any creaking noises. Does it gradually develop?

Mine does occasionally, but what is even worse is my palmrest creak that appeared the other night. I also hate my wobbly lid, but I'm just being picky.

So long as you stick to plastic-safe lubricants you should be fine. I'd avoid anything not clearly marked as such to be on the safe side.

The hinge on my MacBook doesn't creak, but the bezel from the wobbly LCD does occasionally. How hard can it be to make a stiff LCD panel that doesn't flex?
