Doesn't Recognize Blank DVD+R

So for some reason my DVD drive can read already burned discs, but not any blank discs. Anyone have any ideas?

What should happen, if a blank DVD is inserted? Have you set anything in System Preferences > CDs & DVDs?
Does the blank DVD show up in Disk Utility?

THIS, when you insert a blank dvd you get a popup but you could of once chose "do nothing" or "ignore" but you could go back to system prefs to change this default action again

Nothing has ever been set, disk utility is also blank.

Yeah fortunately I just purchased AppleCare before my year was up 2 weeks ago. Made an appointment for tomorrow.
