Noticed on my new 2022 4k and also my 2021 4k that programs previously listed as Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are now listed only as Ultra HD 4K yet they play as DV and Atmos anyway. Apparently im not the only one.
I'm in the EU and 1899 is DV here, off course Netflix is quite region specific. Also using a Sony TV but 2017 model. Pity, as 2018 and onward models supported Apple TV app natively.1899 is listed as UltraHD and not DV. Was surprised as it’s a brand new release. Maybe Netflix is trying to save money by not paying the DV licensing fees. Who knows.
One that for me shows DV is enola holmes 2. Stranger things and other shows show ultra hd 4k yet play back in DV. My nvidia shield shows all these programs as DV.
It’s not just the Apple TV my LG TV Netflix app is not playing DV or HDR at the moment just SDR.This is 100% speculation/guess/thought with no facts.
Now that that’s out of the way, could Netflix be planning to support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+?
I’d be curious if someone with a Samsung television and the new Apple TV is getting HDR10+.
Nonsense. This was actual visual observation on my part. This is 100% speculation/guess/thought with no facts.

I guess my post wasn’t clear. The part that was 100% speculation/guess/thought was meant to apply to what I posted. In no way was I refuting anything you stated. My apologies for the confusion.Nonsense. This was actual visual observation on my part.
Ah yes indeed, thanks for clearing that up.I guess my post wasn’t clear. The part that was 100% speculation/guess/thought was meant to apply to what I posted. In no way was I refuting anything you stated. My apologies for the confusion.
It’s playing fine in DV with Atmos on my 2022 ATV, the label does just say 4K Ultra HD though. On my new 2022 ATV the Netflix show Wednesday is in regular 4K, whereas on the old ATV or iPad Pro it’s DV.
I felt right away that image quality is inferior on the new ATV as compared to the 2021 model and wonder now if it’s an app support issue.
I don’t think Apple did anything, I was using the app and saw the change happen in front of my own eyes which leads me to believe it’s a Netflix server side issue.I’ve got a Sony Bravia connected to ATV 4K 2022. I just setup the new ATV 4K 2022 and installed tvOS 16.1.1, so it is up to date. As seen in my attachments, my Fire TV Cube 3rd gen shows The Crown on Netflix as being DV and AD, and it is actually streamed in those formats. However, my ATV 4K 2022 shows The Crown as Ultra HD 4K, and it is streamed in HDR10.
Definitely a mess up by either Netflix or Apple. My guess it is something stupid that Apple did.
That is definitely a possibility. I know some apps take full advantage of features built into tvOS, while others don't. That causes a lot of frustration when certain features/functions are not available in those apps. But on the other hand, Apple is well (notoriously) known for changing the code and features without much warning, and doing that rather often. So it makes it harder for apps to be kept up to date.I don’t think Apple did anything, I was using the app and saw the change happen in front of my own eyes which leads me to believe it’s a Netflix server side issue.
I saw someone mention it so went to have a look for myself, upon opening Warrior Nun everything looked normal so took a photo and then as I backed out the icons changed.
Yeah if there had been a more recent tvOS update I’d probably agree but there has been no issue sine since the last update up until this happened. That is definitely a possibility.
