I have the Sony AE1 (XBR65A1E) and Sony HTST5000 soundbar. Earlier this year I couldn't get Dolby Vision working on my Apple TV 4K when Sony updated the firmware to allow Dolby Vision on it's TV sets. I thought it was just the cable, So I finally purchased a few belkin 4K dolby vision HDMI cables from amazon.

They got good reviews and seem like they are the right cables to get this to work.

I'm connecting the TV and Soundbar through ARC and connecting the ATV4K to the TV at HDMI 4 (Tried HDMI 1 - 3 as well. No dice). Whenever I try to switch to Dolby Vision HDR it gives me an error and tells me it returned back to its previous settings.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm connecting things wrong or if the cables are bad? The new cables work. I just don't get HDR anything. The quality at 4K SDR is really good, so I've been curious what Dolby Vision will bring. I've spent the whole day trying to figure this out, but no success. Any ideas?

You do have the right cables, but only HDMI ports 2 & 3 fully support the 4K HDR 60Hz, and it has to be turned on in Settings > External inputs > HDMI signal format > Enhanced format.

While I know the above to be correct, I’ve read but cannot confirm that only port 3 does ARC.

Ok I figured it out. And it was just a stupid mistake. I bought my TV and Soundbar through Best Buy. So Geek Squad set it up for me. Apparently they are the ones who set it up wrong. And that's why the Dolby Vision HDR wasn't working. They had the inputs going into the TV, rather than the soundbar. Once I switched it everything is working great now. So Geek Squad, Yeah. lol

I needed Geek Squad to install it since I needed a wall mount and I didn't have the tools to do it myself in a NYC apartment.

Dolby Vision is so nice. highly recommend it if you have an ATV4K and a capable TV.

Oh and don't trust Geek Squad to set up your TV and home entertainment system lol
