Since I've started school, I've enjoyed using laptops. Now that I am done I need a new computer. I currently use a white macbook from work but I want my own computer which I can use personally and use to work on my business.

Any suggestions whether I should go for the 20" imac or the macbook pro 13" would be appreciated.

Thanks

BTW they both retail for $1399 but $1299 with my employee discount

i would suggest going for the imac, since you only need it for home. the imac gets you better features for less money than the macbook pro.

I went for the 13 Macbook Pro but I am in school so since you want it for home the get the iMac since you get more bang for your buck and that gorgeous display:eek:

new MBP13" video vs. iMac 17" video

Hi, who knows how's the video of the new MBP better than iMac 17" video (late 2006, last model of 17"), please?

Also, who knows detailed intel tech about the MBP 2.53 Processor vs the iMac's processor, please?

Thny for some guidance in advance.

I have had a number of iBooks, powerbooks, MacBooks and Macbook pros in my time, but I have gone back to using a desktop, I like the bigger screen, plus I add a second screen, I have had less trouble than the portables. At the end of the day, when I have a portable I am never satisfied, and wish for a desktop.

for on the road I now have my iPhone G3 soon to be a G3s.

I am leaning towards the iMac...but I enjoy taking the macbook out or anywhere in the house

I also enjoy using the computer on my bed while I relax hmmm hard decision though cuz with the iMac i will have the big screen and extra power

If I were you, I'd get an iMac. Although using a MacBook in bed is nice and all, it just feels better on a desk than a lap or bed. In fact I probably use my MBP 90% on a desk and 10% in bed. That is on reason I want an iMac, but I'm in school and need to be portable. If it's for home, just go for the 20" iMac.

I'd get the 13" MBP....i have both an iMac & a 13" MBP...i use the MBP 10 times more than the iMac

As far as my experience goes... I get more things done with my desktop that my MacBook Pro. So... get a desktop first before going for a laptop.

I dont know why... but desktop just keeps me doing my schoolwork because then Im actually sitting on my desk instead of sitting on the couch doing homework.

Though when I have online homework, I usually use my notebook then I can be in the livingroom watching tv and doing hw at the same time haha.

I am going to get the macbook pro 13"

I will use it more than the iMac since it will be portable

thanks for the help guys I will be ordering tonight

iMac all the way 3.06 500 gig works beautifully and and can do anything most people need unless of course you need portability the obviosly a pro :D

I thought I would love my 13" macbook. Then it got really old looking down at a 13" screen that I never take anywhere. I'm happy to say that for 2 days now I am looking straight ahead at 20" of beauty! :D

I think the iMac is a way better choice if you're planning on using it at home. I'd just save your old notebook to use whenever you leave.

With a hackintosh you cant really get any of the benefits of a mac, the beuty and also the genious bar and other tech support. I think you should stick to the iMac becuase it is a very reliable machine and it looks amazing :D

It's a trade off between power, better spec and portability and very good spec; do you wish for the better spec and better screen of the iMac, but being tied to a desk, or do you want portability, in which case, the MBP is the obvious choice. I like portability, and I travel a lot, thus, despite the undeniable beauty of the screen, I'd opt for the MBP. Your call.

Cheers and good luck

hmm I do enjoy reading ebooks on my computer so I am leaning towards the macbook pro as I can relax on my bed reading ebooks on the screen

;)

hmmm but the imac is more geared towards productivity while the macbook pro is geared towards portability
