One of those is a cable, the other is a dongle.

It really depends on what you're plugging into it. If you have an external drive, maybe get a straight up replacement for the cable like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Typ...qid=1480336383&sr=8-5&keywords=usb+c+to+usb+b

If it's a flash drive then the simple adapters will work like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Smallest-A...336436&sr=8-6&keywords=usb+c+to+usb+a+adapter the weight isn't so much of an issue here, it's more that you have 2 connections sticking out far from the device, so it could be knocked easily and disconnect.

But you may want to go with a cabled adapter like the one you posted https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Adapte...8&qid=1480335457&sr=8-29&keywords=anker+usb+c for better flexibility.

There are a few around, it's something that'll become more available in the coming weeks as until now there hasn't been a lot of a demand/reason for the cables (Seeing as other USB-C devices have USB-A ports on them).

I just grabbed a cheap 1m white cable to match the HDD to do me until they become more common place.

The circular design would massively irritate me, it'd look like a dead octopus if it had everything plugged in!

Just not for me! I can't stand cables going every which way, and by nature that's what circular hubs do to your cables
