i just wanna share my experience here, so that others won't make the same mistake that i did.
(if someone knows of a way to make it work, please tell me!)
basically, i have a 1012. it ran out of ink last night, so i looked for a toner replacement - and i found this 1018 on sale in Future Shop - the sale ends tomorrow, Feb01. The discount price makes it having the same price as the toner i needed, so i figured i would get it instead of the toner.
Since 1018 and 1012 are in the same series, i thought there'd be no problem with compatibility.
Apparently, i thought wrong. I can't find any driver for it in Printer Utility in OSX. i thought maybe the 1022 driver
might work.. so i installed it, but it didn't work either.
so here i am, fecked up.. almost.
at least they use the same toner (Q2612A) so i just toss the new toner in the 1012 and pack the 1018 and put it in my garage.
from now on, i'll be more careful when buying new peripherals. won't let those "Get a Mac - It Just Works" ads fool me again.
