Given that I've been in both spaces on several occasions...

The men's room has ALWAYS, without question, been MUCH cleaner than the women's room.

Even if I thought the men's room was the most vile place on Earth, the ladies would always surprise me.

I've yet to find a men's room at the same place that is dirtier than the women's room.

The ladies room is a filthy, filthy place.

I dunno — as many of my crap part-time jobs have involved having to either mop the floors of toilets, or at least check on them at the end of the night, I have to say I've usually found the men's ones to be more disgusting. I think girls are wont to come in and chuck paper towels and the like around for a laugh, which, although annoying, is ok to clear up, but the guys have always won out on bodily excretions on the floor.

Having said that, it never fails to amaze me how gross girls can be too, in that we all know that we have to touch a lot more stuff than men in the toilet. If a urinal's disgusting at a bar or something, in theory, a bloke could go in, not touch anything, pee and leave, but in the ladies there's a lot more stuff we have to touch, like door locks and seats, and therefore sinks and so on. Hence I always think it's pretty bad when girls pee on the seat, or leave grossness (and I have seen some serious grossness) anywhere, because they should know it's not nice at all to have to work round that.

When i worked retail we had the hardest time with the bathrooms. and due in some part to the fact that we couldn't in good concience (or with any hopes of retention) hand a mop to a part time employee and tell them to mop up where someone missed the toilet...but we also couldn't wait until morning when the cleaning crew stopped in. so the highest ranking person usually wound up on plunger/mop duty.
never again. unless it's my own bathroom.

I would like to think that a female bathroom is at least cleaner than a male bathroom.

Men can aim, women can not.

Men think its awesome to pee on a public toilet, everywhere BUT the toilet.

So its my thought process that the floor of a girls bathroom has had nothing but a mop, bleach, toilet paper, and perhaps the occasional vomitous mass on it.

ahem.

Many women, at least in public toilets, pee without actually sitting on the toilet seat. 'Hover' above the seat, and it really does go everywhere. Alcohol intake doesn't help much either.

This is from personal observation and questioning of my girlfriend.

This annoys me so much.

My reasoning is as thus:

Looks ok (say 50% of the time): Sit down as normal
Looks kinda gross (say 40% of the time): Create quick barrier from paper and sit down as normal
Totally vile: Create paper seat and hover. :p

I wish girls that hovered (and were crap at it) would at least wipe their pee off the seat before leaving, because at least then a) I wouldn't have to do it with a giant handful of bog roll, and b) I would at least be under the illusion of the toilet not being gross. I don't really think that you're that likely to catch some sort of disease of a toilet seat, hence I don't get too worried about the whole hovering thing, but random strangers' pee is never good. :D

Round our way the girls toilets are far nicer than the guys. The pub I work at for example, the girls toilet smells lovely (hah, i know) it's all floral and clean smelling. whereas the guys toilet is... well it reeks. I hold my breath in there.

NOW, my girlfriends student house. sweet lord. I try not to go at all... house full of girls too! hah. oh well.

I told my wife about this and she's promised not to put her purse on the table, counter or bed anymore. :)

This entire thing reminded me of when I was 16 and worked at this department store, and occasionally we had to check the bathrooms when closing.

One night while closing, I got a new tampax, opened it up, put some ketchup on it, then got it wet so it would expand.

I then went into the ladies room, and with great force slapped it right in the middle of the floor, so that it sort of "splatted."

Then I got on our little phone thing and called one of the girls back to the women's room.

While faking that I was holding back from gagging, I explained that there was something that I wasn't comfortable cleaning up.

I can honestly say I've never seen a girl run out of a bathroom in pure disgust so fast in my life. :D

Ahh....immature childhood tricks...
