Don't want playcount updated on iTunes

Setting up my iPhone 3G S, but I don't want the playcount updated in iTunes. I want the iPhone to keep tracking of the playcount. Basically I want iTunes never to show a playcount or last time played. I know this is possible with iPods, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the iPhone.

it does that? as far as I know, the phone keeps track of that separately than on regular iTunes. There was program that i used to transfer music from my phone to my computer (forgot what it is called), and it showed how many times i had played each song....
