DoorDash recently started rolling out Live Activities support for its iPhone app, allowing users to track their food delivery order at a glance on the Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro models and all iPhone 15 models.

DoorDash began working on Live Activities support a few months ago, and the feature started rolling out over the past few weeks, but it does not yet appear to be available for all users. The most convenient aspect of the feature is the ability to view an order's real-time ETA directly in the Dynamic Island on newer iPhones.

DoorDash competitor Uber Eats rolled out Live Activities support in May.

Other popular apps that support Live Activities include the NBA and MLB apps for basketball and baseball games, Flighty for flight tracking, Citymapper for public transit, ParkMobile for parking, and CARROT Weather for weather forecasts.

Whaaat? I haven't Ubered in a minute, when did it disappear?
A while ago. I got my iPhone 15 in September. The Dynamic Island worked the first few times I took an Uber or ordered an Uber Eats. Then it just stopped, some time in October.

Dynamic Island is still working fine for all other apps so it must be something that Uber have done.

I can't remember if I had Ubered since September, but I guess I'll find out next time I go to the airport... it's pretty convenient, so I would prefer to not lose it(

I just used Uber Eats over the weekend and it worked perfectly fine.

It stopped working for me over the summer, and I've seen comments from other users about it working/not working since then. Not sure why the inconsistency with working for some and not for others, but it's super annoying. Tried all the usual tricks, uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling notifications, reenabling, disabling the Live Activities function, reenabling. Persists after switching from 14 Pro to 15 Pro. Wish they'd at least acknowledge there's an issue

I wish more businesses were doing this. It's been a while — would hate to see the Dynamic Island become App Clips part 2...
Is it decent to always have some data available as you go about using other apps? Absolutely. But when you've got a few to keep an eye on, it kinda fails.
Seems to be a half-baked feature from what I can tell so far. It'll need more expanded options in iOS18 I think.
For instance, I've got one app that shows Dynamic Island (Sweet Enough) and it utilizes both sides of the camera notch to display important data. Great. I use this all the time. But as soon as another app, say music for example, or AppleTV control gets in there, you start relegating the information you can see, as you share screen estate with the other app. With half of the data, you lose quite a bit of the benefit.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it works well. For instance I remember that was taking an Uber to the airport, and one side had my Uber status, while the other had my gate#(props to AA).

I saw the Live Activites pop up this past weekend when I placed a couple delivery orders. Definitely a welcomed addition as I was wondering when the app would be updated with LA.

It's funny how people want to save money but then pay almost twice as much for a meal to be delivered..
hypocrisy at it's best..
I only order from delivery apps when they have promotional discounts. Often Uber eats will have an up to $15 off coupon. I used once twice this weekend and minus the tip was about the same I would have paid in store

That “order by” time countdown is also going to be dynamic. Don’t get me wrong, dynamic island is niche, but I hope to see more dev’s creating usefulness out of it. It’s slow in terms of adoption time, but hopefully. Also, I’ve learned to cook quite well, happy to no longer get frustrated at wait times in DoorDash
