We're fairly well-off, and have never used a food or grocery delivery service. I don't see the point? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I do deliveries for Door Dash as a side gig. Been doing it for the last few years now. To answer your question? Yeah, I don't see the point in paying the huge price premium to get food delivered to my door either. But I see why at least a certain percentage of my customers do it. Typically winds up one of these reasons, when it's valid:

1. Elderly people in nursing homes who can't get out and would otherwise be stuck eating only what they're served from the cafeteria in the facility. For them, it's a great "treat" on a weekend.

2. Hospital patients who order because they don't have family or friends able/willing to bring them food at the time they're hungry for it, or they don't want to trouble them to do it.

3. People working from home in high-paying fields, such as lawyers or realtors. They'd rather place a quick Door Dash food order and get back to their conference calls than taking time out to make or get lunch and losing that billable time.

4. People working in jobs like retail who may only get a 30 minute lunch break will often order Door Dash so their break isn't wasted trying to stand in line to get their food. And people in car sales will often order Door Dash because they don't want to risk losing a sale if they're not ready to help someone they think might come by.

5. College students living in apartments who don't have vehicles, and don't live in very "walkable" neighborhoods. They'd rather pay the premium for Door Dash than pay for a vehicle, its insurance, gas and maintenance costs.

Good reasons. I will add is that my other half is a lawyer who works from home. She doesn't use food delivery either.
