Hi. A question for dosdude, or anyone else who might be able to help.. I'm running Mojave on a dual core 5.1 Mac Pro, with an NVIDIA GTX 680. I'm trying to upgrade to Catalina, using the latest dosdude Catalina patcher, and a bootable USB Catalina 15.7 installer that is visible on the desktop. But when I restart, and get the boot disk screen, the "install Catalina" option doesn't work. I get a white screen with a grey circle and band like a roadblock sign, and after a short time the computer switches off. This doesn't affect its ability to subsequently be booted up in Mojave normally.. Any suggestions? If so, please e mail me at: sacredcowpictures@yahoo.com

Use the patcher to make another bootable installer...? It's not exactly clear from your question if you've exactly correctly followed the directions... exactly correctly.

BTW I'm having my own troubles installing Catalina (for the second time) on a cMP 3,1 but am as of yet 'praying to lesser gods'. I'm sure dosdude is busy.

Thanks, jmp473. Someone else suggested that. Admittedly, the USB bootable installer was created independently by a friend on a different computer, rather than through the patcher wizard on my own. I don't have any idea why this would make any difference. If someone can confirm this specific requirement, and explain why it's necessary, I'll get onto it. Cheers.

Just found this video on a guy successfully installing Catalina in a 2010 Mac Pro. Not sure if this helps but maybe you could check this out. Though he used a different graphic card. The card you’re using is a Kepler Nvidia gpu

You have to create the USB installer USING the dosdude tool, another version will not be a patched installer so clearly will not work. though I imagine you have figured this out by now ...
