    Hi,

I am a .Mac subscriber and i was wondering what you guys thought about the Group service. Is it good?

Has anyone one of you created a group for example and would be willing to invite me so that I can play a bit with this service. Or is anyone willing to join a group that I could create on my side for those who would like to test it out?

The group feature is rather limited. It's fine for a family noticeboard where you know in advance who you are going to want to be a member, but less good for those instances where you want to attract new subscribers - the real downside being that there's no index and no way to publicise your existence.

Ultimately, if it is just for family/close friends then I'd suggest starting a group and having a play - you can always delete it later. If, however, you want to do something a little more 'public', then Yahoo groups is probably the way to go.

(shameless plug: I run a small UK-based Mac support list on Yahoo groups - MacNTech)

Yes indeed, groups without an index or being easily browsed some way is pretty strange. I've always only considered it for like a sports team, club etc.

They could make it much more but then like Yahoo groups you would have a lot of controversial subjects and the need to actively police them etc.
