So my 2018 MBP has started having an issue where when I type I get double spaces very frequently. Makes typing quickly impossible.

I see from forums this is very frequent issue. I call Apple they claim to never have heard of this issue before and have a long list of troubleshooting steps including reinstalling the OS.

Last time I dealt with an issue it took weeks of me messing with stuff and recording it before they offered to repair.

I have apple care, any suggestions of ways to fix, get Apple to repair without me doing a week of tests etc?

It's called "sticky keys" where sometimes key strokes won't register or become double strokes, very common issues with 2016+ MBP models.

I find it very surprising that you said Apple claimed they never heard of this before...but try calling them again. Once ur MBP is sent to the repair center, they will replace the top case, and you will receive brand new keyboard, battery, speakers etc...

Yes, I guess Im not looking forward to doing hours and hours of tests to confirm a well known issue. Is it possible just to drop the computer off at the Genius Bar and skip the lengthy trouble shooting steps they seem to be suggesting?

Welcome to the club, except mine is 2017.

Yes, that troubleshooting list is useless. It's definitely not a software issue. You might want to talk to someone else.

In my case, it was relatively easily reproduced with 1 extra key about every 10 key presses. But it wasn't "space". The extra key was easy to see in textpad if you did "space + bugged key". I've also recorded it and copied the video to the laptop for the techs to see as proof.
