It's really not. Garmin cut off users from a software update for no technical reason, Apple cuts users off from a software update for a very obvious, very technical reason. AI needs all the compute it can get. Apple tested this on the older chip and deemed it too slow to release. Would you really prefer to get watchOS 27, even if it made your Watch really slow?
If you think 27 would actually impact the watches performance then I've got a bridge to sell you or whatever the saying is lol

Question for those who double wrist - do you find it difficult to type on your MacBook's keyboard?

One reason why I really like my Apple Watch is because the Trail Loop is so thin it hardly impacts my typing - I wear it 24/7 (sleep, wake, etc).

I can barely stand to wear even one watch! I hope Apple makes a somewhat minimalistic but very functional fitness band someday soon. That would be a decent solution for people who want to wear mechanical watches, but not lose health/fitness and other smart functionality. Also good for people like me who prefer not to wear a watch at all. I don't use the fitness and health functions myself (yet), but I often use the other smart functionality--notifications, weather, Apple Pay, Wallet, alarm/timer/stopwatch, audio, Siri. I think a lot or maybe all of those can be incorporated in a wrist band with a minimal LED display, but probably a more basic version of the functionality.

I’m sorry but I barely use my MacBook nowadays 😬 no problems with my iPad Pro 11” with Magic Keyboard.

I always remove my mechanical watch when typing on the mac's keyboard since it scratches against the surface of the laptop. However, I usually type on an external keyboard, so I don't often have that problem.

I can't do the double wristing thing. I've resorted to wearing the Apple Watch on the weekend and the mechanicals during the week. I already shut off all notifications when I'm at work, so the only time I really get value outside of health tracking is on the weekends anyway. I may look into some other device for health purposes, but there are also some recent rumors that Apple recently started rethinking their wearables approach to be more than "Thou shalt wear Apple Watch." Hopefully that bears some fruit, though it may be awhile.

I don't think I'm unusual in that I'd abandoned wristwatches entirely before the Apple Watch came out, and the only reason I'm wearing an Apple Watch is for the utility of it.

If I wanted to go "Old School" I'd go REALLY old school and pair an Apple Watch with a mechanical pocket watch. But I just don't have the interest.
