Don't start eating more (calories like) eat healthy. In the summer time I eat fruits and vegetables as much as you can. Drink water instead of lemonade. If you want to gain weight do some weight lifting ;-)

I almost always achieve all the rings, though on my recovery days they are largely unmoved. I think Apple can go a long way in providing better feedback but overall its ok.

I have been determinedly closing all the rings every day. Some days that means a long late night walk (living on a hill helps keep my heart pumping), other days crazy dancing about at home has done the trick (on holiday I found I couldn't get exercise minutes from walking because of the heat, but dancing about once back in my air-conditioned apartment worked a treat). I've had a Fitbit for a couple of years but am finding the watch is a far more powerful motivator. I did drop my move goal back (form 800 to 600 calories) before going on holiday though but will let it creep back up (it's on 660 at the moment).

What I think the watch is doing that my Fitbit didn't is not just encouraging me to walk further but, crucially, to walk faster.

Down 5 since I got the watch two weeks ago. I exceed all three rings every day. I have always taken weekends off, but am now walking a minimum of 4 miles on Saturday and Sunday.

Good for you man! I lost 10lbs since I got the apple watch. Those rings keep me motivated. I can tell you, these 10lbs are definitely worth $400 that I paid for my watch. More importantly I feel better, and my clothes fit better too.

Who's gonna be the first to get this award?

I combine the watch with MyPlate app for Watch and IPhone. I can input what I eat, the watch inputs what I've burned and the app tells me how much more Calories I can consume. Set the app for losing 2lbs per week, and lost4 over two weeks.

The data is auto entered into the Health native app and tables my fat, carbs, protein and cholesterol, sodium. etc: whatever is on the food labels.

Great combo.

Thanks. I use LoseIt, but maybe I'll check out MyPlate

I used LoseIt to knock off my first thirty pounds, and I sometimes go back to it to keep myself in check.

Another one to check out is Lark. I just downloaded it the other day. It's like chatting with an AI nutritionist coach via text -- you tell it what you ate and it says whether it was healthy or not. I think you can speak to it through the Watch, too, which is why I downloaded it.

As imperfect as the watch is, I have lost over 20lbs since I’ve had the watch. I hate the Activity Ring and want to smash it everyday. I make the exercise ring circle around itself 3 -4 times around 4 – 5 days a week, taking a day or 2 of rest. I’ve always worked out, but with the Watch, I have pushed myself into exploring new territories and doing it more vigorously. I’ve always been a weightlifter with the occasional cardio, but now I started jogging again, discovered the joy in rowing at the gym, outdoor walking, indoor and outdoor biking; and about to take my 1st steps into yoga and boxing.

I find that I do not really use many apps: Starbucks, Activity, Music, Weather, Passbook, Shazam, and Waterlogged get the heaviest usage. Reminders, Wunderlist and travel apps are on the next tier down of Activity. Waterlogged has saved me. I was not a heavy water drinker and I also suffered from migraine-symptoms. Since I’m drinking the correct amount of water, my number of migraine-related incidences have reduced to 2, and not one every 2 weeks.

Back to the watch, I would honestly love to swim. I’d even would use a different activity tracker for it, if I were able to add-in or record data when the Watch is not worn. Of course, I would love to completely detach from the 6Plus I own and keep it light, but I’m sure that might be a future product. I’m sure there are others of you hat perhaps use the watch to the fullest. Maybe there are must-have apps I’m missing? Or maybe I have just adjusted to the current limitations.

Gonna try to see if I can make it to 30lb loss. now
count me in for waterlogged!!! freaking love that app...I've been drinking so much more water since downloading it last month...my original goal was 3L a day but I out it down to 2l and a lil more. I got the AW 7/29 and I've been going nonstop minus my rest days(Monday's) and I've dropped a few pounds and I plan to keep dropping. congrats to you!!!

I hope that's not one of those apps that perpetuates the "everyone should drink 8 glasses a water of day" myth that sprung up a few years ago (in "research" funded by Danone, who own the Evian and Volvic bottled water brands... quelle surprise).

Most people's diets already contain enough water (2.5-3.5 litres/day) without forcibly drinking extra, so unless you have a specific medical condition, the best advice these days is just "if you feel thirsty, drink some water".

(And yes, "if you're feeling thirsty, you're already dehydrated" is a myth, too.)

Lol this thread reminds me of the Nike FuelBand thread from over 3 years ago.

Which would probably remind someone else of a FitBit thread even earlier.

People have been rubbishing fitness trackers for years now, but they will only become more prevalent and important. They are brilliant for motivation and awareness. (Especially if you have a desk job).

Congratulations - what a wonderful story. It is great to hear that some people have been able embrace this technology and action some really change in their lives.

Now if only there was some Apple watch app that would deliver me an electric shock when I am spending far too much time on this forum...

It is, but you set the amount of water you want to drink.

I hate water, always have, and it would be the last thing I drank. Regardless of myth or not, the benefits are there. As I stated, I have less migraines, more energy, and less back pain. Considerably less back pain because of my water intake.

Maybe it's a placebo thing, may be not. However, if it's working for us, it cant be a bad thing.

Carry on.

Ive lost 45 Lbs since i got the watch, not because of the apple watch but has been an excellent tracker for it.
Wow! Congrats and great job. Some people mock the Apple Watch and why anyone would need a reminder to stand or workout yet, there types of devices from Fitbit to Up to the Applr Watch have sold millions upon millions in the last few years specifically for motivation, reminders and health benefits.

Very happy for your weight loss and I hope it was just from healthy eating and fitness and not an illness.

It is a myth but also one of the healthiest things you can eat/drink. Bottled water might be the biggest hype unless your tap water is horrible. There is no way I get 2-3 liters of water In my diet/food but because I workout almost every day, I get plenty. Too much water is bad for you, too much caffeine drinks are bad for you but it is a myth that coffee dehydrated you.

Water eliminates waste, helps you lose weight, eliminates headaches, eliminates most if not all cramping.

I'm absolutely with you! Over 40lbs down here, every hour I run up and down a couple of flights of stairs.

Apple Watch's activity tracker is *brilliant*, it does for me what the Polar V800 didn't quite manage.

That's awesome! I haven't made anywhere near as much progress (I've lost 15lbs) but I'm down 1 shirt and pant size so I am very happy. Still gotta a lot to go but the Apple Watch is definitely a huge motivator.

I have been using Carrot's calorie tracker which the watch reminds me to update constantly which is good! I'm going to check out some of the other apps mentioned here. Thanks everyone and happy losing!
