Mini

I'm A fan of the mini over the emac.

First make sure that you look at the two models. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT.
It's all very well pointing out the features, but the look of the machine that you will be using for years to come is important.

The Emac may have a small foot print, but that doesnt mean the actual machine isnt big, because it is just that, big.

I find them to be very 'in your face', i couldnt go back to a crt after using an lcd for years. You would have to buy a monitor with the mini, yes, but you can get monitors cheap and you'll have so much more deskspace.

I hate wires too, but 3 i really wouldnt find so bad, i use a powerbook, so wires aren't so potent anymore, but i dont think that you should favour the emac over the mini simply because it has less wires.

The mini is a nicer machine, it may not be an all in one, but it's much more portable, much more.

Smaller, and so more space, and you can upgrade the monitor as and when you please, plus the monitor you get will be nicer if you get an lcd.

Dont let the speakers on the emac be a decider, they arent that impressive, most people put 5.1 on whatever, and so internal speakers just make the machine bigger.

Emac has more, mini is nicer and what it does have is beautifull. I can't emphazise enough for you to look at the two machines, side by side, i reckon it will make you change your mind.

I'd really stronglt recommend you buy a mac that you can upgrade (like a powermac model)

I always love it on here when someone asks about buying a consumer level machine, and someone inevitably suggests (wth all seriousness) that they purchase the most expensive computer Apple makes (i.e. PowerMac)

While it may seem odd, PM's can be had for under $1300 as refurbs or on the used market. Also it adds some food for thought to make one stop and look at their need for internal expansion.

remember, the mini is:

BYODKM!!!!

its designed for people who have DKM's, and should not be thought of as 'oh, you have to buy a display and key board and everything for it'. this is not the point of the mac mini.

tastic.
