Downgrade from Mac OS 8.5 to 8.1

Is that possible?
I have a Mac OS 8.5 install cd and you can get the Mac OS 8.1 "upgrade" online, could that work?

IIRC, the MacOS 8.1 update needs 8.0 to be installed first.

Can you suggest why you would want to go from 8.5 to 8.1?
Is it to restore some Mac, maybe an iMac bondi-blue to original system?

Yes, I have a rev. A bondi blue imac and I'd like to see it have Mac OS 8.2 again, I have Mac OS 8.0 although it's not on the original disk, and I don't know if it's machine specific. Someone copied their install disk to another disk. It won't boot to the disk and I don't even know if the iMacs took Mac OS 8! And I also have Mac OS 8.5 for iMac (the software install), so ya I am kinda stuck... I really would like to not pay for another install disk.

If you want Mac OS 8.1, you'd have to find an iMac rev. A restore disc. A retail 8.0 or 8.1 disc will not work on it.
