Okay, i assumed everything was going to work
But last night, when i was typing up a SMS via "SMS Counter", the keyboard kept disappearing
Is it possible to downgrade my iPhone back to 3.0.1?
I hate typing over 160 characters per SMS

    Yes you can.

    go to this site

3.1 buggered up my iPhone and kept asking me to restore it and kept failing every time so I downloaded the appropriate file from the link above and when it asks me to restore I simply ALT+CLICK the restore button so it allows me to manually choose the file and restore from that, back to 3.0.1 now my phone works fine but i'm not sure how I'm ever gonna be able to upgrade to 3.1 now, maybe i'll try another day.

No you can't. Not a 3GS. Apple will no longer sign the 3.0 firmware, so it cannot be uploaded. It is still possible to downgrade the 3G and 1st gen, but that is not what the OP asked about.

Reason this is happening is because 3.1 updated the baseband of the iPhone. Do a Google search for iRecovery.

    What exactly is the baseband?

What happens if i use 3.0.1 with the 3.1 baseband?

It's hard to write SMS without the counter

Waiting for the programmer to update the app

Added: 4 new updates, AppBox, Paper Toss, Theme Clock, Spawn Lite
But none of these is the one i need
