My phone is running iOS 6, but I want to go back to 5.1.1. I have the blobs for 5.1.1 (but just those, no other 5.x blobs), so I think I have everything I need. What I did:
1. Downloaded the 5.1.1 software for my device (iPhone 4 GSM, build 9B208)
2. Downloaded redsn0w to stitch in the blobs
3. Used redsn0w to put my device in pwned DFU mode
4. Option + restore and selected the custom IPSW created in step 2
It goes pretty far, but in the end I'll always the 1604 or -1 errors. I have verified that my hosts file does not have the gs.apple.com line in there (that is, it's there but commented out).
Am I missing a step? What can I do to go back to 5.1.1? Thanks!
EDIT: Resolved, I used the fix recovery option from redsn0w, after which my phone rebooted, did some verbose stuff and now it's running iOS 5.1.1 🙂
