Hello chaps, I'm encountering trouble with VMware Fusion on Monterey with MacPro 5,1 running OCLP. The lack of XSAVE instruction on the chips is stopping VMware Fusion from running on Monterey. The only solution I've gathered is to downgrade to Big Sur.

Any one had tried this before as in downgrading from Monterey to Big Sur, running OCLP?

I'm okay with wiping the OS nvme drive and start with bare metal installation from Mojave to Big Sur. I'm just concerned if there will be any problems arising from the ROM since I've got Monterey running already.

Downgrade to Catalina, Fusion 12 already requires XSAVE with Big Sur. You can't run VMware Fusion 12 with a MacPro5,1 and BigSur.

Oh dear! Thanks @tsialex for your timely advice again!

I assume wiping the nvme drive followed by installing catalina is fine?
