iPhone 11 Pro Downgrading to 64GB

I am thinking about downgrading from 256gb to 64gb. I currently have 2TB Icloud storage.

My current phone has 48gb left out of 256gb.

What will happen to the photos on current phone?

What will happen with the photos on icloud. What if I reach capacity on the new phone. If I delete photos, will they be deleted from I cloud?

Wait you have 48GB left from 256GB and you’re thinking of downgrading to 64GB. Doesn’t make sense. I have 64GB XS Max with 32GB left and 50GB of iCloud storage. Sounds to me you should stay with 256GB....

I thought that that I could have all the storage on Icloud so that I did not need it on the phone. But I have lost stuff on Icloud in the past, and I am not sure if this setup will work.

This is how my set up works. I haven’t lost anything. Pictures are important to me. I honestly didn’t care iPhone starting from 64GB vs 128GB. I wouldn’t mind having 128GB but when I did had a lot left. 64GB is fine for me. Now for 2020 if they go back to 128GB smallest size then I’ll get that.

From my understanding, once you sync to icloud on the 64gb it will replace from what you previously had with the 256gb iPhone.

I’m hoping ios13 with its new files management system I can insert an external drive and store my photos and videos there.
