I have a number of big files someone sent me to download (on my computer), but my internet is so slow here, I was thinking of going somewhere else where there's incredible fast Wifi and download all the stuff from there. I don't have a laptop but some friends could borrow me theirs. But then I was wondering if it would be possible to download the files on my iPad? Is there an app that allows this? I would then basically just transfer the stuff from my iPad to my Mac somehow (through iTunes I believe).

What do you think - possible or not? Thanks.

I have accomplished this by downloading files with Puffin Browser, which saves them directly to Google Drive. The files can then be opened in iZip Pro.

Documents by Readdle will download and uncompress rar files (among others). It's browser for downloading will also let you change the user agent string on the off chance that the site delivering the rars won't deliver the download to you if it sees you're using an iPad. And it's free. A very handy swiss-army knife program.
