Download with closed lid?

I started downloading a trailer on iTunes at my College, then my Calculus professor showed up. So I closed my MBP, and it went into sleep mode.

After class, I opened the book back up to notice that the download had finished!

Is it possible that it downloaded this while it was asleep?

That would be useful during our finals. I could get Portal for steam using the schools internet while taking my tests.

When the computer is put to sleep, only the RAM is powered on, thus no other activity takes place.

if you really want to download stuff with your laptop closed, check out InsomniaX

it allows your mac to run with the lid closed. Just be careful of heat, if you decide to put it in a bag or something

Ah. The school's wifi is probably just faster than I thought.
