I generally keep none on my iPhone - unless we are going on a plane trip - just stream.
On my Apple Watch I have 3-4 playlists of about 25 songs apiece downloaded because where we live (and I usually exercise) the cell service will have drops - at least on the Watch, not so much on my iPhone 12.
