I am looking for way to download torrents. I have tried to download torrents from websites but the file is zero kb. then i drag the file to azureus and it starts to download but never finishes. is there something i'm doing wrong?

Get Transmission.

It's an awesome torrent application. It's really fast, and it's in a nice, neat package. Search it on Google.

If the files you're getting are 0KB there's something wrong with the tracker you're using. Use a different tracker.

I'd also suggest using Transmission instead of Azureus. It's lighter on resources and much more Mac-like. Azureus is major bloat-ware.

Yep, Killmoms knows what he's talking about 🙂

have you set up your router properly to allow a port to download via bittorrent? downloading the torrent file and opening it in Transmission or Azureus or whatever is the easy part. have a look under "What ports does BitTorrent use? Will it work with a firewall/NAT?" in this guide.
