Excuse me but I am a Mac beginner.

There are 3 folders on the right hand side of the dock. Applications, Documents and Downloads.

My download folder had disappeared, so I dragged one called My downloads from my documents, and it sits there ok, but it is shown as a white folder, instead of blue like the other two folders.

Can anyone help a silly old imac'er please?

    Thanks

    Silvo

Right click on it and select FOLDER.

Btw, in Mac OS X the downloads folder is just called "Downloads" and is located in your Home folder (Macintosh HD/Users/silvo/Downloads). Mac OS X also offers a documents folder, called "Documents", which also sits on your Home folder. Neither the "Downloads" folder nor the "Documents" folder are inside each other, pooping back and forth. Windows calls their documents and downloads folders "My Downloads" and "My Documents".

Right-click it and you can then change its outfit. I think you have to select Show as folder while now it's show as stack

    Silly old fool

Thanks both, that was a quick reply. I have a magic mouse, and I thought how can I right click, then I remembered CTRL.

Now can I give it a symbol as well??

To right click, simply click on the right side of the mouse, while lifting your left finger slightly off the mouse.
