Drag away icons out of Dock

When i drag things out of the DOCK it doesn't disappear...it's like it mocking me, they drag out and then spring back to their old position...😕 I checked control panel, but there is no option. How can I change this?

You just have to drag them a bit further. Drag until you see the cloud thing and release.
