Drivers for a Dell 2725DC monitor

I added a Dell 2725DC QHD monitor to my current system (Mac Studio and an Apple LED Cinema Display.) On the Dell support page two drivers are listed, one being "Critical." Are they really worth installing?

You don't really need a driver but if there's a firmware update you probably want to install that.

I have had Dell displays on my cMP and Studio for the past 15 years and have NEVER installed any Dell drivers (this is not Windows).

I still wouldn’t bother personally.
Monitors are ‘plug and play’.
Dell just want you to have their management app rather than using the monitor settings on your Mac.

All you are setting is resolution (in Mac system settings) and maybe a color profile (which you can do from the monitors built in menu).

I went to the page the OP posted above.

Clicked a checkbox and saw this:

As others mentioned, you almost certainly don't need the "Monitor Driver for Mac".

Having said that, the "Dell Display and Peripheral Manager" might be worth looking at.

HOWEVER... I have a Dell 4k 27".
I tried the Dell app for my own display, and it was... well, ok, but nothing I really used.

If you'd like some REAL control over the display, I would highly recommend something called "BetterDisplay". It works as "freeware", but if you upgrade it to "BetterDisplayPro" it offers considerably more. The upgrade really isn't expensive -- just looked at my records and it cost me $15.67 on sale. Worth it for what you get.

Only thing I suggest is MonitorControl for non Apple displays. Can control volume (if your display supports it) and brightness with Apple media buttons.

Note that this is only for USB-C/DisplayPort. HDMI won't work most likely.
