Drives disappearing from FCPX

My storage disk has disappeared from view on FCPX on my MBP. I have a Mac Pro as well, and I had one of the drives disappear from there as well, but I didn't need it for anything relating to FC, so I never looked in to it. Anyone have any ideas?

OS X version, FCP version, what type of external drive and capacity , does it mount, do you recall what caused it to 'disappear', are you editing project off of external or do you edit your project on your internal HD and read events off of the external ... ?

I added an SSD to the optical drive. My original hard drive is still in the HDD slot. When I open FC, the only drive it sees is the SSD, which is now my boot drive.
