Yes, about 25% of the data was not backed up.

It wasn't the most important data (a lot of old ripped movies), but I still wanted to try to get them back.

Point is: if you pay for a RAID, recovering from the raw HD data shouldn't be that painful.

really liked the look of the synology 411slim.

My biggest issue with it, the age. The model year is a part of the drobo naming conventions, which is very handy.

The rest of the lineup in terms of actual nas boxes is on 12/13 model names, only the 411 remains unupdated.

Not paying nearly full price for 2 years agos tech thats probably due for a refresh.
