Anyone else experiencing this? It shows up in Disk Utility, but not in Finder or on the desktop. I can get it to show up if I unmount it in Disk Utility and then unplug / replug the USB cable, but that is a pain given that I often switch to Windows / Bootcamp and then back to OS X.

I wrote Drobo, but of course they won't help me because I'm out of warranty...

I have a drobo mini and I've not had any issues. I'm running it off the thunderbolt interface, so that may be why. Did you try updating the drobo. I had an update waiting for me a week or two ago.

My Drobo was my biggest mistake purchase. It sits gathering dust.

This is a Gen. 2 Drobo, so no Thunderbolt for me. Also, both the firmware and dashboard are up to date.

    Same here

    Drobo 2 via USB

Wont mount properly after Mavericks upgrade. All firmware and dashboard up to date. The volumes are mounted and can be seen in Disk Utility and via Terminal. but Finder won't show them.

    Any ideas?

Call for support. I had a bad <spit> drobo problem once. And while they were unable to help me they did try at least.

I'd try another user account first to see if it pops up

Do a dashboard/firmware update too. Check you have the latest versions

Yeah, I guess I'm just stuck replugging the USB cord each time I restart OS X. Everything is updated, but it keeps not showing up.

Did you try resetting pram/smc and then another user account?

Co-sign. This thing pisses me off more than any single piece of equipment I've ever owned. It doesn't wake from sleep on Mac, and won't mount half the time. And customer service is very unhelpful.

I have the Promise Pegasus at work, and have never had a single problem with it. Head and shoulders above Drobo. 100% regret buying it.

The older Drobo models were quite flakey but it's almost a different company now. The 5D is a very solid product but it took DR a while to refine their system to what it is today. I must admit, the support i've had has been above and beyond with DR sending me replacement drobos even out of warranty. Maybe as i've bought every model they took a liking to me

Drobo S. About two years old.

Contacted support today to just see what my options were, and I was pretty much given 1) Pay for DroboCare to receive support or 2) Buy a newer unit.

And I don't HATE the product, it's just flaky. Not even with data, but with mounting. It rarely wakes from sleep, and I have to unplug/replug cable, and these type issues. My main thing is that support is terrible.

After 2 years have elapsed since purchase, I find option 1) to be a very reasonable offer.

BTW current models have 2yr warranty upfront, if I'm not mistaken. With DroboCare you can extend it to 3.

    Me too.

I get that products can't be supported forever, but when an OS upgrade takes an otherwise working product and introduces a glitch, you'd think that Drobo might not be so stingy with their support, even if it was just acknowledging the problem and letting us know if they are working on an update.

Having the same issue here with my drobo 2nd gen. I'm having issues with both USB 2.0 / Firewire (via thunderbolt adapter) connections.

Have a Drobo 5D here - connect via ThunderBolt and all seems to working fine for me.
I also believe they have progressed a lot and the quality of their products now are finally at the level where they should have been years ago!

It seems from the comments that this problem might be exclusive to 2nd Generation Drobos.

I have a second gen Drobo, works flawlessly, except for trying to boot into Bootcamp, I have to unplug it during the boot up, or it kills Windows, and I have to do a recovery.

Hey Sabbac, so you have Mavericks and your Drobo mounts to the desktop / finder after you reboot? Thanks.

Just to add another data point to an old thread, but I have a second gen Drobo and I'm having the same issue where it will not mount after wakeup under Mavericks. If I unplug the power to the Drobo and plug it in again it WILL mount after it reboots.

Hate having to do that each time I wake my system though.

It worked grand under Mountain Lion so I am not sure if the issue is with the Drobo or Mavericks.

One thing I need to explore: I'm currently using it via a FW800 cable daisy chained from another external FW800 drive which is connected to my iMac via a thunderbolt to FW800 adapter. At some point I need to test the Drobo directly connected and see if maybe it just doesn't like being daisy chained.

    Check Firmware Version

I have a Gen2 directly connected to the iMac via a Firewire to Thunderbolt dongle and nothing else is on that line. I am afraid I also have been suffering the failure to reconnect described in this thread. I have however just discovered from the Drobo website that I am not on the Mavericks approved firmware.

On their Mavericks list is 1.4.2 and I was on 1.4.1 I am a bit confused by this because Drobo dashboard reports that the firmware is up to date. However there are good instructions on how to download and install the firmware manually which I have followed, and it is doing the update as I type. I hope this resolves the reconnection problem.

    All the best,

    Stephen

Agreed. I gave mine away for free and don't regret it one bit.
