Apple, pay attention to Dropbox. You might learn something about Cloud Done Right.

Simple. Powerful. Easy. Intuitive. Versatile. Scalable.

Dropbox even lets you publish your iWeb websites. Remember that, Apple? When you empowered people to create and share content, rather than just consume it?

Love Apple but Dropbox is more Apple-like than iCloud.

C'mon, DropBox been around since 2007. Apple's cloud service is about 2 years old. Give it time.

Fair point.

I just hope iCloud evolves to let us do what we want with the service, not just the more limited way that Apple wants.

Just 2 years? Not really. iCloud is the successor to Mobile Me which was the successor to .Mac which was the successor to iTools which dates back to 2000.

Apple was really the innovator in the cloud concept even before it was called "the cloud." The problem is, in 14 years, it has been unable to get it right. How much MORE time do you think Apple deserves? (FWIW I've had an account since the iTools days, even had a paid account before DropBox came along. iDisk was soon slow it was a no brainer for me to switch.)

Although there's nothing wrong with Dropbox, I ditched it as soon as ios 8 came out, there's no need to have two cloud solution on my systems, especially when one of them is already integrated.

It's SO integrated that you can't even attach a file stored in iCloud Drive to a mail. And you happily store a PDF file in iCloud Drive on your Mac and happily can NOT open it on your iOS device.

Yeah that's real innovation right there.

Don't get me wrong, that annoys me too, but I expect that to change. Once they do it will be the complete Cloud based storage solution for my needs.

iCloud was not hacked. If you watch the Tim Cook interview with Charlie Rose, he explains what happened well.

This is one of those things, despite the truth being readily available, people will go around repeating, and we'll be having to explain for years.

Research it before you knock it....

Of course you can. It would be nice if you researched HOW to do something before you bad-mouthed it. Simply control/click on the file then slide down to Share in the Contextual Menu. Pick Mail. That launches your default MAil program with your file attached to a message. (You do have to address it...know how?)

DropBox upgrade for 8.1 buggy for me

Set up Touch ID in DropBox... freezes... I have to 'sleep' the phone to get it to work... after attempting to use DB again after any other app... same thing.

Turn off ToID... tap DBox... ocrashes to the home screen again... sleep phone... fine... til next time!?!

Camera upload seems to be buggy. Has froze a few times. Have to force close the app then try again.

Touch ID seems to work fine for me.

I was talking about iOS, NOT OS X. So yeah I researched it. I researched it extensively and came to the conclusion that iOS STILL lacks those basic features. You can only mail foto's from the mail app.

am I doing it wrong? I can't upload a video from the photos app to my dropbox?
