Dropbox is a lot more trouble than what it's worth. When you share a folder with someone else and drop a large file in it, not only does it use up your available space but also the account of the person you shared it with. Double dipping. Sometimes I have to delete my files I uploaded so they can upload a file. Dumb.

They've done this since day one. Yeah, I think it's horrible. What I love most about Dropbox is the LAN syncing. Great way to get files from one computer to another. Now that all I use is a MBP, not much use for it. lol.

I have an unlimited space from G Suite for Education.

Yeah those are fun, as long as it's a 4 year university or a college that doesn't delete your account or deactivate it the moment you're done. I've lost one (and all its data) this way because the admin thought I was a student not coming back. My wife lost hers after a summer program stint.

I did have a Google Business account with unlimited space. That was fun. Only problem I don't like about Google Drive, when a person's account is deleted, all their files are bye-bye if the admin chooses to do so. That and I don't use Google anymore if I can help it.

Curious why no OneDrive? Like to hear why cause I'm thinking of dropping OneDrive but I need to have some cloud access on a work Windows 10 notebook.

Box and Google Drive I get through work (so no cost to me). Dropbox I use because some collaborators use it. I don’t know anyone who uses OneDrive, and we didn’t get it at work (I think that technically might have just changed, but at this point I don’t need yet another cloud storage solution, especially not one that integrates with a bunch of Microsoft products I don’t use).

OneDrive is GREAT. Great on Mac with Word, great on Windows, great on iOS and Android. I highly recommend it ESPECIALLY if you have an Office 365 subscription. That 1TB is a no brainer then. :)
Agreed! I use OneDrive for my work files and having OndDrive along with iCloud is a great combo. Dropbox is good, but not for the price/capacity that they are currently offering for the 1TB plan. I try to avoid Google when I can, so the combo of iCloud/OneDrive works. Glad to hear that most of you agree and do the same.

I really wish It would replace my dropbox but it feels really limited. I have all my work files in dropbox and when I want to share with someone I just right click and copy link which is nice and simple.

I've just spent time trying to do that in iCloud and its just long winded. right click, share, add people, email person(did it to my work email). I did all that and there was no sign of sent file in my work email and it wasn't in my junk.

any ideas?

To be honest, not many. I know exactly what you mean with regard to sharing, it is so very convoluted.

Alright! That makes my day! Another OneDrive/iCloud user! :) I use OneDrive for work and personal (using selective sync for work computers) and iCloud for personal apps mostly (like Scanner Mini by Readdle, Notability, iCloud Photos, etc...).

But I use Word a lot so OneDrive is my primary storage for my 12GB of files. OneDrive's sharing is modern too, sharing links to files, sharing collaborated documents for my coworkers/friends, etc... Being able to finish my work logs at home on my laptop, even though I left the file open on my work computer - just awesome. :)

Dropbox today announced that it is increasing the amount of storage space available to many of its paid subscribers for no additional charge.

Starting today, Dropbox Professional accounts get 2TB of storage space, while Business Standard teams have access to 3TB of shared storage space.

According to Dropbox, its new storage limits give customers more freedom to free up phone and hard drive space, share large files, and work with Dropbox's Smart Syncing features.

All new Professional and Business Standard accounts include the upgraded storage today, while storage for existing accounts will be upgraded in the coming weeks.

Dropbox is not increasing storage space available for free tiers or its Plus accounts. Free storage space remains limited to 2GB, while Plus subscribers will continue to have 1TB of storage space.

Dropbox Professional is priced at $19.99 per month or $16.58 when paying yearly. Dropbox Business is priced at $15 per month per user with a minimum of three users, but pricing drops to $12.50 per user when billed yearly.

I use them all. OneDrive pairs with 365 - which can also save to DB. DB CAN be accessed from any device online, if necessary. Box for a few encrypted backup files, Google drive for some film festival shared things like schedules. And iCloud of course (200GB) for photos and some apps like a genealogy app that synch there, a scanning app.

And don't forget Evernote - sort of hybrid. Unparalleled to build an itinerary for planning travel, including transit maps/schedules, confirmation numbers, screenshot of QR codes.

Really good about DB is 1. Great search for that certain file. 2. Sharing large graphic/vid files with disbursed clients. 3. On desktop easy to arrange stuff.

I have to disagree ... I used to think Office 365 was great until I found that OneDrive would constantly zero-out my files. I have recently switched back to DropBox ... hopefully I have better luck.

Dang! That would piss me off a lot. The biggest problem I'm having with OneDrive right now is the app loves to do 100% CPU when I need to save battery (never happens when I'm plugged in, or I don't notice it).

My wife uses Dropbox cuz she has to use it for her PhD / school work (UCR and UCLA both use Dropbox in her labs). So I want to move to Dropbox too. I used to use Dropbox for years and really liked it when I did use it. Also it backs up live photos unlike OneDrive.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye out for this. Zero'ing out files is a huge nono in my book.

Haha same. I have 1,063.8GB. All my referrals were illegitimate though. I got a thing in the mail for $100 in Google adwords. I knew that French people especially love it when things are in their language, so I wrote the ad in French and targeted it at younger French users who were looking up certain related terms and used my referral link. I got my referrals almost instantly, lol. I also did those various quests to earn bonus space. Do they even do those any more? I'm not a poor college student anymore so I haven't even thought about it until now.
That is freaking brilliant! LOL!
