I have just bought an iMac and installed Dropbox...but I am constantly having to go into Finder' and double clicking on 'DropBox' app/icon.

IT then reappears in top see here: http://screencast.com/t/mwEb0AXf8H

It then eventually starts up (again) and starts syncing, but then after a while the icon disappears.

Now does this mean it is still syncing and the bar at the top is just a notification?

Or if the icon disappears from the top bar, then DropBox has stopped syncing in which case how do I get DropBox to stop turning itself off?

Or is this a known issue with DropBox/Apple?

This is settings in preferences: http://screencast.com/t/QppxpqWwWXwS

Many thanks in advance

If that's a new iMac it won't be on that OS.

If you are on 10.7.5 there apparently is a solution involving entering some Terminal commands.

I will check, it is a refurbed iMac, but I am not sure of the OS.

I think it was a 2011 I bought! I will check this evening when I get home!

Just checked I am running

OS X 10.10.5 - Late 2012 - Is there an issue with this OS?

Wierd I have just gone to Dropbox and the latest version is actually 3.10.5 !!

So have downloaded and will install

I don't think so, how would I check on a mac? I am new to apple machines!

There was a problem between Dropbox and Mac OS 10.10 that the 10.10.1 update fixed. I don't know if the 10.10.5 update is causing these issues again or not...I haven't seen anything on it until this thread.

I'm not running Yosemite here so I can't confirm either way. No one has confirmed specifically on this thread either, yet.

If others aren't having this issue you may have to try this sort of reinstall, which only reinstalls the System and leaves your files and user settings intact.

No that version is latest...
Check here: https://www.dropbox.com/install
Anyway, it is installed and it still don't work
Check the link you provided, on the right side of the page, there is the link View release notes (which shows "Stable builds" goes to 3.8.9). If you change the dropdown selection to "Testing builds" it shows that 3.10.5 is a testing build. If you change the dropdown selection to "All builds" you can see all versions.

Have you tried working with Dropbox Support?

Confused here!! :)

What re-install the operating system? Does it remove all the software?

I don't use a MAC keyboard...my fingers are too fat for such niceties!! Do you know what the squiggle button (⌘) is on a PC keyboard? is it the microsoft button?

I'm glad you got it solved. :D

BTW, the Apple command ⌘ = Ctrl key on a Windows keyboard.
