The thing got wild number of dependencies for its full build. Took me 2.5 hrs to build AWS SDK, on the Quad LOL
But I want it to have S3 support. Let’s see, hopefully the app itself builds or is fixable.

Update. I got it building, but a) color look wrong (likely endianness is wrong somewhere) and b) wx GUI does not work yet. The rest needs to be tested.

Please pardon my ignorance, but does far2l have some bearing on this thread? Is it able to connect to Dropbox, or some other well recognized cloud storage?

To my untrained eye, it looks like just another commander-style dual pane file manager. I am sure that it must be more than that. What are the key reasons that is better than, say, Midnight Commander?

Excellent! Thanks @barracuda156. I found a pre-built binary Leopard DMG of far2l, so I will give it a try. It clearly sounds promising. If the pre-built binary fails for any reason, this is finally the excuse I needed to add PPCPorts to my (Sorbet) AirQuad.

While it might not sound it from what I said, I am a big fan of dual pane file managers. I actually love Midnight Commander, and KDE's Krusader is an enduring favorite of mine, along with what I consider to be the lesser Xfe. In my vintage Windows work, Total Commander is my "go to" file manager. I REALLY wish that it had a purely icon view, but that ship had long since sailed!

So... a dual pane file manager that also incorporates S3, WebDAV and sFTP is clearly of interest. I'll give it a whirl and report back.

Can you share the link to the dmg? I wanna see how it was packaged, what wx are used and how that mode behaves. May help to fix some current issues with the modern version.

My mistake - the prebuilt binary was for 10.15+, not Leopard. I am disappointed, to say the least... but I tried it out on my Monterey (12.7) Mac Studio and it runs nicely. I will definitely invest a little effort into it and learn its strengths and weaknesses.

Just in case you are still interested, I have placed the DMG at the following URL: far2l-DMG

If you try my port, please let me know if something is confirmed to work or confirmed to be broken.
Make sure to start it up with `--tty` (or just build with GUI disabled: `sudo port -v install far2l -gui`). wx backend does not work correctly at the moment, and I had no time to fix that.
You will probably want to use it with mlterm or alike, not the archaic Apple terminal.
