Soo what will it cost to repair, apple website says $109? That's it?? Seems like it should be higher.

I did the same thing last week with my iPhone 6 plus. Completely shattered the screen. I was within 1/2 mile of the Apple Store. Walked in just before noon without a genus bar appointment. Within 10 minutes, a Genus came out and looked at the phone, called back to the back room and said they would have it replaced in 30 minutes. Came back in 30 minutes and the phone looked brand new. Cost $129 plus tax for the iPhone 6 plus.

Not sure what is so odd.

You are getting the right cost at $109 for the 6. Has become pretty reasonable.

Not speaking for the OP, but what I find odd about it is that Apple Care costs $99 and when you have it, you pay $79 for screen replacements. I understand Apple pay covers more than screen replacements but it seems a little out of whack (in a good way).

It's also weird that after market screens for the 6 and 6+ are a lot more expensive than what Apple is charging to not only give you a new screen, but install it.

In any event, it's freaking awesome knowing a shattered screen can be taken care of so effortlessly and cheaply. Not going to take that for granted ;)

I think it is only $109, but that is if it doesn't have any other damage, other than the screen. I have a clear case and a glass screen shield on mine to hopefully minimize damage.

Dropped my iPhone 6 Monday. Took it to the Apple store. $109 for screen replacement. The genius said they tried 2 different screens and they wouldn't work for some reason so they gave me a new iPhone.

Well, that's just for the screen replacement. It's not to get a new phone or anything like that.

That's really reasonable. It's one reason I don't use a screen protector. Worst case scenario, I can have the screen replaced for $109, instead of dealing with a cost of a screen protector, application, dealing with a plastic film rather than the actual glass.

You obviously didn't read my post before yours.
I did. They couldn't fix the screen so they had to replace the phone. They sometimes will charge the replacement fee instead (as some threads have discussed), and in other cases they can be nice and replace the phone for the same price that the screen repair would be since they couldn't get it fixed themselves.

So, the price is still just for the screen repair and not for the phone replacement which is more expensive (getting a replacement for that price because the repairs couldn't be done for some reason is a slightly different thing as far as price of the services go).

I thought of this too. It almost makes me want to remove my IP6+ from its case and screen protector. If I drop it, its 129 for a new screen which is not bad. It's the 329 if the phone is a complete loss that I worry about.

I dropped and cracked the glass on my 6 64 gig a couple of weeks ago. Sold it on eBay in an hour for $550 and bought a 6 plus. iPhone heaven. :)

Ymmv of course, but I had a hairline crack in my iPhone 6. I debated fixing it or not, but fell into a little mad money and figured $108 was fair enough.

When I went to the Apple Store he offered to replace the phone altogether under the 1 yr warranty (I do not have apple care).

Works for me! The new phone is likely a refurbished model (he didn't say). And they will likely refurbish my old phone which was in perfect condition except for the cracked screen.

And I kept my $100. Didn't pay a penny out of pocket and Don't have to look at a cracked screen anymore

Considering that the screens cost Apple $40 and take an already salaried worker 15 minutes to fit, Apple certainly aren't losing money here.

Yep and most protectors are going to run you $50 anyhoo so you are half ways to a screen replacement if need be.

I'm a gambler I'll go without a screen protector and take my chances. :p

No protector for me either mainly because of the low price of the screen repair with Apple, plus I have an Apple Store less than half a mile away from me. The stores are few and far between here in the UK.

I still use a case though, Apple silicone cases.

I prefer life without a screen protector. Paid a lot for a nice phone and like to enjoy it. Also, to be able to easily get it out of my pocket. $119 is reasonable especially when if is backed by Apple.

I haven't tried it myself, but you could probably opt to pay $109 for the screen replacement and save your two $79 incidents for when you spill water on it or something else happens that would otherwise cost upwards of $200 to fix.
