I was wondering if anyone knows from experience if you drop the data plan, can you still get the firmware updates when they come out.
I just dropped my data plan yesterday, but still on AT&T voice plan.
My phone has not been unlocked or jailbroken, still locked to AT&T.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Firmware updates come via iTunes not over the air, so I wouldn't see a problem. At least that's the way it's been so far.

Just make sure you don't have pay as you go data. If you do make sure you don't use any of the data apps or have email on auto check, etc. If you see the Edge symbol, you are on pay as you go. You can have the carrier block data completely.

Yes, they did block Edge for me. I just tried connecting to a couple of data apps and it said Safari cannot find the server. Thanks too about the email setting tip, that's on manual check as well.
