I got pushed into a lake with my Iphone 4 in my pocket, needless to say it's still dead.

Who is dead the person who push you? if someone push me to a pool or lake, unless he ran away and I dont know him, I will make sure he pays for a new phone. :D

PLEASE HELP! iphone acting crazy!

So I dropped my iphone4 in the toilet and instantly panicked. I obviously didnt do any research and was trying to turn it off and on and got nothing. SO i came home and put it in a ziplock bag with rice for 3 days. When i took it out on the 3rd day it still was not working. SO i decided to plug it into the charger and make an appt with apple.

AFter an hour or so of it being plugged in it magically turned on. HOwever it is saying NO SIM CARD installed. ANd keeps shutting off and on. Is it hopeless? or could this magically work itself out? Should i put it back in the rice? HELP! is there anything i can do?

I lit my hair on fire while sitting next to a fire pit. I immidiately jumped into the pool to save my head, but upon entering the water, I realized that I still had my Iphone in my pocket. The phone was submerged for about two seconds and was rigourously towel dried within ten seconds of leaving the water. About a minute after its bath, the phone powered off. It would not power back on and I could see water bubbles in the camera lens area. Like many people here, I put my phone in rice (1 inch under the phone and 1 inch on top of phone with the screen-side up). I was weary of putting it on top of a warm oven or leaving it in the sun (the sun's heat varies). So, I put the uncovered container of rice and phone about 5 inches from a 60 watt reading light.
I left the phone there for two days. When I tried to turn the phone on, nothing happened. I held the top power button and the bottom button at the same time and the phone came back to life. When I put the phone and rice under the light, it was pure white. By the time I took the phone out, many pieces of the rice were begining to blacken and all of the rice was a deep yellow. Hope this helps.

So i was by the pool and my iPhone 4 slid out of my pocket and out into the water... The phone won't turn on but the LED light is on and is shuttering i need some really big help on this one!

I got a 1600 error after trying to restore in iTunes then after i got a 2005.

Please guys

Help!

if it makes it any better the water sensor isnt tripped.

It happened to my last iphone. I was submerged in a flash flood and my phone was in my pocket. I thought for sure it was dead but it came back! Here's what you do.

Do NOT plug it in or try to start it. You can fry the insides.

Put it in a baggie submerged in rice. Leave it alone for three days. I know it's hard but starting it while it's still wet inside can kill it.

Good luck.

Good news, bad news

Dropped my 3G in the sink last year. Put it in a bag of rice and it never came back on. My carrier wanted $450.00 to replace it, Apple did it for $225.00. Yesterday my wife pushed me in the pool with my IPhone 4 in my pocket. Stuck the vacuum on the headphone and power jack, put it in a bag of rice and left it on the window sill. 24 hours later, it is working fine except for some small blurs on the screen.
Any idea if these will eventually clear up?

we saved my buddies iphone by doing this:

Took 2 screws out, slid the cover off and took a battery out. we put bunch of bags of that crap they put in equipment (circuit packs) to control moisture into a large vacuum seal bag. it was about 12x16 bag. we put a phone + cover (battery and screws did not make it into a bag) inside of a little brace (we were concerned it would get smashed by vacuum and bags pushing on the screen), which is what they use for outdoor grilling :) of a burger or several hot dogs..., minus the handle of course. We sucked air out of it and let it sit in there for a bit over a week (do not remember exact number but it was under 2 weeks). We took it out, put it back together and plugged it in .... turned it on, screen came up with a RED battery (small red line inside of the battery pic) logo but it would NOT, per say, power on.... it was sitting plugged into an unplugged from the power laptop for like 20 minutes... eventually we figured things was dead, my buddy plugged his lappy into a power adapter and phone dinged... we tried to turn it back on and bingo - like NOTHING ever happened to it, with exception of battery life sucked on it for a week, so for $20 he ordered a new battery and that was as new after that was replaced...

Another diver

Hello there, i'm desperate and depressed...i dropped my iphone 4 in the kitchen sink and yeah...full of water of course...FML..no soap though.
The thing is i was in a call at the time which really made me panic...Anyway pulled it out in like, 1 sec and dried it fast with a towel. I got a black screen before trying to turn it off and then, not having an internet connection (new house) i did the stupid thing to try and switch it on...No response there, so I just grabbed my keys and went back to my parent's house where i could find a blow dryer and a screwdriver to try and save it.

While i was on the street the screen turned on, and it appeared on the "Slide to switch off" indication in which it was unresponsive. A half hour later i got home and started unscrewing the cover and the screen turned black on its own. (I missed the part where i should switch it off with power and home button). Afterwards i tried to dry it with the blow dryer and not being able to power it on, i put it in the plastic bag with a lot of dry rice...

That said, i just need some hopes it will work in a few days :(:( ...and some advice on how many days should i leave it before i try again...thank you in advance

Hi guys,

Last week I was swimming like an idiot with my iPhone 4 (***** happen).

Well, I did the thing with the bag of rice, and it worked!!

Thing is, the screen is OK but it looks like it's stained by the water. With time, it'll get really annoying.

Is there a way to fix that ?

Here's an exemple of what it looks like, but it's not as bad as on the picture at least...

This sounds crazy but from my experience this works better then anything. Will a bowl with rice (uncooked.) Submerge your iPhone in the rice and wait for 3 to 5 hours. take it out and see if it works. IT is not a sure thing at all but there is something with rice that helps in absorbing water. I have never pulled it off with an iPhone (thank god I have never needed to) but I have fixed a couple friends phones with this.

iPhone 4 in four feet of river water for 15 minutes

Dropped my iPhone 4 in the river while canoeing in silty river water...found it 15 minutes later and it was still on and receiving email...GPS was a little wonky but it settled out in a few hours...

Bake it!

I jumped into my pool last night with my iPhone 4. My first thought was that's it and my iPhone is history. But instead of just tossing it in the trash, I put it in the dry rice as suggested. This morning, however, I decided to try something else.. baking it. That's right, I placed it in my oven and baked it at 150 degerees for three hours, then let it cool down. Amazingly, it fired right up and it works like always.

Whew!

is this a good sign??

So 2 days ago i dropped my i phone 4 in the toilet  Immediately i fished it out and my husband turned it off and we placed in a bag of rice. Yesterday morning it rang as my alarm was set for 9 am and i again immediately turned it off and put it back in the rice. This morning the alarm rang again at the same time and when i turned the phone off again i noticed i had received texts and facebook messages, the screen looks normal so far. I have the phone sitting in rice again and am just wondering if this sounds like a good sign and if i should keep the phone there for much longer and what to do when i try to go to use it?
thanks so much

Toilet training accident for me. Fell in the toilet for 2 seconds. Towel dried it. Headphone does not work neither does ear piece. Speaker does. It is in a bowl of rice next to the dehmidifier. Will try tonight to see if it works. Otherwise $199 to Apple.

dropped iphone 4 in toilet

i dropped my iphone in the toilet - i removed it right away. tried to shake the water out and then got a bag of rice. problem is- no matter what i do my phone wont shut off. even when i hold down on the top and circular button at the same time it powers down, but then immediately the apple pops up again and it turns back on. it still rings and works fine but gets a pop up that this accessory is not optimized for this device and i can barely hear when i get a phone call. i am going to get some packs of silica gel tomorrow and in the meantime i am just keeping it in a tupperware full of rice. how bad do you think it is that the phone refuses to turn off? do you think if i keep it drying out for a few days (it should run out of batteries soon and turn off) it will be ok? and the mac store will replace the phone for $200? (i just got it from verizon about 2 weeks ago) i am quite distraught. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

A bit of hope

I too recently dropped my iphone 4 in a toilet. What a crappy way to start the day....

Anyway, I immediately grabbed the phone out of the water and placed inside a towel. I took the rubber casing (cover) accessory off to release any water and began drying it with the towel as quickly as possible.

The phone was still on to my surprise so I attempted to turn it off, clearly confused the iphone just reset itself. I then knew I had to dry it as quickly as possible before the water spread through the phone.

I simply got an electric radiator out of the cupboard and placed it infront with the main power/USB jack facing the heat. I monitored this for an hour and then turned the phone over to dry the headphone jack for an equal amount of time whilst reading your comments on this thread.

I returned to the phone. Screen still on and fully functioning, I decided to try the sound. Nothing. No keys, no iPod no ringtones would work. Unless...I went into system settings and hovered over a new ringtone...I would then get sound.

The phone rang but no sound and no speaker, thankfully the loudspeaker worked so I could hear the other person. Whilst speaking on the phone, I got a text message and the ringtone sounded through the loudspeaker. I knew the sounds worked it was just a matter of getting them to work.

I tried resetting the phone several times and playing with all the ringtones to stimulate the speakers. Still nothing. So I left the phone overnight in a room at about 30c temperature.

In the morning, my girlfriend sent a text from my iphone to hers to make sure it was working before she went away for the weekend. As the message sent I heard the little 'flump' noise telling me the message had sent.

I grabbed the iphone knowing that mean there was sound activated, and to my astonishment after checking my iPod function the sound was working again! I called her iphone to check if the ear speaker was working and it too was back in service!

Iphone working fine again within 24hours.

Now there are two things which might have helped firstly the radiator, so that would be my first tip. And secondly make sure you have a casing around your phone, to cover any spills and falls. My casing is basic but clearly helped.

To further support the radiator technique; I also unfortunately left my apple headset/earphones in my pocket which ended up going through the washing machine (i hadnt intended washing those whites). Again, I took them out after its cycle and places them by the radiator. Within 24 hours they were working, and within 3days they were back to normal, both the microphone and speakers working perfectly.

Further still, the wash really did bring back the whiteness. Thank you apple.

So I guess if your lucky like me on these occasions be patient and try the radiator.

iPhone toilet train failed

Hi guys,

Dropped my iPhone 4 into the toilet last night. Fished it out in 2-3 sec of the clean water. Dried it by towel and use the hair dryer on warm heat for about 5-7 mins. Let it sit upright for the nite until today I found this blog.
Now it's in a square sandwich size ziplock bag with half full of dry rice+ a couple of small silica gel packs. And in another ziplock bag to make sure no air can get it.

I don't hv small enough screen driver to take the back of it off.

Anything else I can do besides sit n wait? Do I need to add some heat element? It's winter here with heater on in the house.

Please help!

Everyone,
Just an update about my phone. End up I went to an Apple store they had a look said it can't be fixed n they replaced one for me for A$179.
Good luck!

Were the water bubbles still in the camera lens after u took it out from the rice container?
