My mother dropped her phone in water and she put it in rice but took it out to charge it and it’s glitches. It didn’t regonize her password but it finally did get her in and now she has it charging in rice. Will it work? She doesn’t want a new phone.

Even if the rice thing worked, charging it or having the phone turned on while it’s trying to dry out isn’t a good idea.

If there only were a place like a search company that would allow me to look this up on that internet I keep hearing about. ;)

A lot of people advise to use silica gel instead of rice.

What phone is it?

Or even gel silica packets out of a shoebox would be better than rice, they can be purchased in bundles off the Internet. . Rice is largely a myth for the most part, but that’s really a different subject. Altogether, an ultrasonic bath would be the best solution to a waterlogged iPhone.

You dodged a bullet! Glad it is working for you

Not really. In many cases, the phone will likely have a much shorter life even if the slightest amount of water protruded the internals, or any were near the logic board. Its more of a matter of time versus dodging anything.

I disagree and stand by my statement........surprised anyone would differ to be honest.
His phones works.......that is better than the alternative of it never working again so in effect he dodged that bullet.
He now has a chance to make an encrypted iTunes back up of his phone to save all of his data.
Now he has the time to get a replacement lined up and to restore his data back onto it.
So yes....he did dodge a bullet. He has the gift of a little more time.
