hey guys

This is not a troll thread I know it seems likely as I recently made a thread about my iPad however for Christmas I bought my girlfriend an iPhone 8 in the new gold colour and today it arrived from dpd anyway as the delivery driver gave me the package I dropped it and I opened the brown box it was in and the retail box looked fine, do you think the phone could be scuffed? I’m not to fussed as it’s my gfs iPhone and I won’t tell her I dropped it

I know people who work at UPS and I bet you that UPS had tossed you box way farther than you dropped it.

No way the phone was scuffed while in the shipping box from a simple drop.

Please do not let your imagination go crazy here like it did with the iPad.

Ok thanks I do get paranoid about delivery’s so that’s why I’m a little OTT about things, appreciate your reply, mind put to rest, thanks.

This will not be the last time the phone gets dropped. Check out that everything works, then just enjoy it. We don't even want to know the abuse these devices get from UPS or Fedex. Thinking about it will make you never buy a phone again.

IKR I just watched a video of some guy just chucking boxes in the back of their van and if they don’t cause damage the drop definitely won’t, I’m happy now thanks guys

Hahaha, yes, I've been in UPS and FedEx package handling, sorting, etc., if you order from anywhere that uses those services and you want to sleep at night ... never go see what happens there ...

Thank god Apple always wrap there products to perfection

The phone should be fine. The phone is packaged well.

My son has Ring Doorbell, he caught the delivery guy throwing his package, where it hit the door and bounced to the ground. Was funny to watch, thankfully nothing broke.

On a sidenote, actually Apple does do a good job with their packaging materials with the iPhone box and how secure it is, then it's obviously inside another box when they ship it to you. Your iPhone won't have any damage in all likeliness.

Thanks for your reply, I remember 2 years ago I ordered a Samsung galaxy from carphone warehouse and all it was shipped in was a plastic bag literally the retail box was inside a plastic shipping bag, luckily the phone was fine but looking at some of the videos of how the delivery drivers handle the packages I’m surprised it wasn’t damaged.

The Reality is carriers don't care about your package, because they care more about the time constraints of moving along their delivery route. But if you notice with Apples iPhone boxes, they have very tight tolerances with the packaging materials and even how you open the box, it's very secure and tight. There is very little movement for the iPhone to slide around. Apples packaging for their products is superb.

You should see what happens in the UPS facilities when they're transferring packages and loading the trucks.

Sounds like I don’t want to know what happens! These delivery companies sound horrific

Except… except… you started this thread because you had dropped the box. Not the delivery guy.

Amirite?

;)

That's so funny... last week, I bought my wife a gold iPhone 8... I was carrying the small paper Apple Store bag inside a canvas tote bag... when I brought it into the house, I accidentally dropped the tote bag, so the box hit the floor (with a layer of paper and and a layer of canvas between it). I was a bit o_O at myself... but pretty confident that it will be fine!

I've had iPhones shipped to me in the past where the shipper (T-Mobile) just stuck the retail iPhone box inside a plastic shipping bag; the retail box is sometimes all dented up from transit, but the phone inside has always been OK.

If the iPhone is somehow damaged when my wife opens the box, I'll let you know, LOL (she's waiting for a case to arrive).

Dear GF,

If you're reading this letter, know that I have dropped your gift "iPhone" and it has been scuffed. I hope that you will have it in your heart to forgive me even if you don't forget my actions!

P.S: I didn't get AppleCare+, buy it yourself!!

Love,

@ThatiPhoneKid
