its fine now guys dw.
We are worried. Please make note of this!:
90% of water damage people do exactly what you're doing. Shake the water off, let it "dry" over night, and test it the next day. It works! So you continue to use it.

All the while electrolysis is at work, chewing away the guts of your phone, and you don't suspect anything until its too late. By the time the motor starts buzzing, the speaker cuts out, or it bricks - the damage is permanent.

Heed the advice of others to leave it OFF and put it somewhere warm and dry - to get the moisture out before it can resume chewing up the innards.

Just perform a search here and enjoy the hundreds of threads covering this subject. ;)

no "*visible*-by-a-drunken-eye" waste. :D

very true.

----------

I will never understand how so many people drop their phones into the toilet.

I mean, How? How is that even a thing???

Do you hold the phone directly over the bowl, do you lay it on the edge of the toilet seat? How???
well when you are urinating while having a drunken conversation on the phone **** happens. (no pun intended)

For all the people who are wondering "how could you be so stupid to drop your phone in the toilet?"- ACCIDENTS HAPPEN.

Mine was sitting on the bathroom counter, across the room from the toilet. I dropped something, it hit the phone, the phone went sliding and was in the toilet before I could say "Oh *expletive*". I was not drunk, holding it over the toilet, carrying it in my pocket, or "carelessly wiping" (I love that one though lol)
/endrant

OP, I saw you say your phone is working...I'm glad for you, and I hope it holds out. I didn't get lucky reviving mine, but I did get lucky at the Genius bar and got a free replacement.

Moral of the story-keep your phone out of the bathroom :)

Don't call people foolish for not buying Applecare+... It is a ripoff for MOST people and I would call you foolish for buying it.

It costs you $100 even if you end up never needing the replacement. If you do it will cost you a $50 deductible so a total of $150.

If you don't buy Applecare+ and you never break your phone it costs you nothing. If you do it costs you $199 to get a replacement phone.

So it costs $50 more but ONLY if you need it... With Applecare+ you are paying $100 no matter what... That is a good gamble.

If you lose the gamble then it costs you $50 more... Easy decision for most people.

AppleCare+ = $100
Deductible = $50
AppleCare original = $70
Difference between AppleCare+ and original = $30
Replacement cost without AppleCare+ = $200
AppleCare+ deductible plus difference between + and no plus = $30/2 + $50 = $65 per replacement

Even if you decided to half the price of AppleCare+, it would be $100/2+$50 = $100, so you're still saving money.

And if you use both incidents on your AppleCare+ you would still have 2 years of warranty and support left (for non-accidental incidents). So overall it's not an entirely bad investment, just depends on the gamble you're willing to take (as you have pointed out it is just a gamble), but it would unreasonable to call it foolish.

Put it in rice and turn it off or use a blow dryer and hurry. Apple will not replace it as it does not cover it under AppleCare.

Just going to point out NEVER and I repeat NEVER use the blow dryer on eletronics after dropping them in water. It just makes it worse.

The bag of rice is the correct way to go.
Really the best is pull out the battery completely, using some rise it with 100% alcohol to get out all the minirals then have it live in bag of rice.

Exactly why I didn't but Applecare.

First of all, you dropped it in the toilet? Why the hell would you be holding you phone over a toilet I mean that's just stupid.

Second, you reached into the toilet?? I mean I understand it's the iPhone but wow.

Just grow the **** up princess.

If you have a Chinatown area near you hit up a iPhone specialty shop.
They'll open it up for you and change out the water sensors with fresh new ones so it'll appear like it was never water damaged so you can get an easy exchange at apple.

Shady? Yes... But if you want some advice here it is.

Too many "rate my poo" users with iPhones now

I guess there's wisdom in the ladies requesting gentlemen to put the lid down when finished! :D

Oohh thank you for giving me the perfect angle to blame the whole fiasco on my husband! "Honey, if you would have put the toilet seat down, my iPhone never would have fallen in the toilet. It's all YOUR fault!" lol

You're actually going to put that toilet phone on your face?
