Sorry to hear about your incident. That's one of the main reasons I always get AppleCare+ on my Apple Watches. It's just too expensive to repair and it's not uncommon to have watches knock into things accidentally. Saying that, I have never broken a watch from dropping it or hitting it on something. I have scratched a watch face by bumping it into something though. So maybe I'm losing in the long run, but it gives me more peace of mind to know that I am covered if something happens.
