Lemon eucalyptus oil seems to work about as well as most commercial sprays such as DEET, at least according to Consumer Reports Health.

Ah, excellent! I really like citrus (and am aware that citronella does work well against the airborne menaces), and rather like eucalyptus also. Very well done! And it is yet another natural repellant, one which combines two of the ingredients that I really rather like. Why, thank you for posting this...

I am a magnet for biting flies and mosquitoes. In an attempt to avoid using DEET, this year I tried the new Off plant-based Botannicals repellent. It works and smells great. Just have to reapply it every couple of hours.

BTW, if you are bitten, immediately make a paste of water and Accent (MSG) and apply it on the bitten area. Itching and any swelling will go away within minutes.
