Hi all,

My DSLD seems to slower than a regular 1.67ghz. ( xbench without disk is almost 10 points lower
and the low values seem to come from the memory results )
For those who have one have you seen this happening?

Best regards,

What Geekbench do you get? I've seen some wildly different benchmarks between Tiger And Leopard and different Geekbench versions. I've always found Xbench never consistent.
I devised my old video benchmarking to get real world results:

I've had different xbench results on the same machine and OS..
I did quite a few xbench comparisons a few weeks ago. I was getting weird results, like my dual 1.8Ghz G5 being nearly equal to my 1.67 PB (non DLSD). As well as my 1.5Ghz 12" being faster than my 1.5Ghz 15". I've pretty much concluded that xbench is unreliable.
And I don't find geekbench all that reliable either. It changes from version to version and doesn't serve much other than bragging rights IMO.

Hi guys,

Aparently the RAM sticks I put in yesterday were the reason it seemed so slow.
I had some serious instability with them resulting in system crashes.
I changed them back and it's back to normal.
It's unfortunate because they we're recognized as pc2 4200s 444 but
the system was undeperforming :(

That’s ironic. I have the same problem in my 1.67. I purchased a bunch of cheap ebay sticks. They all worked in other machines and appeared to work in the 1.67 too, but one or both of them are bad or I’ve got a bad memory slot on the logicboard. Which is possible because when I put the two new sticks in it in the first place I was surprised to see that it actually had twice the amount installed it was reporting (reporting 512MB but had x2 512MB sticks).

Hi Project,

I think the problem might be related to the fact that in reality mine are pc2 5300 444.
I had problems inmore recent macs not booting because the memory was faster than the
macbook pro 2009 supported ( 1666 DD3 vs 1333 DDR3 ).

I really don't get why macs are so finicky about mem sticks faster than specs running
at lower speeds :(
