So I decided that I wanted to start gaming on my dual 2.3 g5 power mac instead of my macbook pro (2.16 intel core 2 dou) since I figure that I have more room to make upgrades on the g5. However, I've come to find out that my options are limited in terms of what's new and available.

Per apple's support technical spec's, I currently have an ATI Radeon 9650 - 256 MB GDDR3. I just upgraded the memory to 4gb's and yet World of Warcraft is a lot choppier(10-19 fps) than playing on the MB pro(Radeon x1600 128mb). So now I'm thinking either the game isn't tested much on my platform much (which has been the case on overall macs/os) or I need to upgrade the video card.

Aside from the 4870 and the Radeon 3870 Rohs 512MB that I've been reading on these forums, are there any other affordable options? Preferably slightly better and ranging from $100-$150?

    ty in advance

Your MBP is faster in every way than your G5.

Don't waste money trying to upgrade a dinosaur, hook up your external display, keyboard and mouse to your MBP.

Neither of those are an option, they are only for the Mac Pro. You have an AGP video slot, very old and slow by today's standards.

The two fastest options you have for an AGP G5 are the Radeon X850 XT and GeForce 6800 Ultra, both of which will still be slower than your MBP's X1600.
