dual 867 mmd and optical drive operation

how do i open the optical drive , dvd player ,,so i can insert a disk and watch a movie..the f12 just brings up dashboard....does not open the drive....

Did you hold F12 Vs. tapping?

Are you using a recent Apple Keyboard?

one of the later keyboard,,,white platic ones....the f12 will not open it...i thought there might be another way

If it's a white keyboard then there should be an eject key on the upper right side.

the pro keyboards also have the eject button on the top right of the num pad

If the keyboard does have an eject key then F12 will only bring down Dashboard.
