I have an Intel-Based Mac-Mini, and am interested in dual booting Ubuntu on it. However, I can't seem to boot from the Live CD. I have the Intelx386 disc Live/Installation CD for Ubuntu. Does anyone have any experience doing this?

You will most likely need BootCamp. I have not tried it but I have heard others who have. It's available free from Apple.

So I'll download boot camp, and instead of installing windows with bootcamp, I'll install Ubuntu?

That would be my guess... I imagine your problem is with the LiveCD not know what to do with EFI (I'm assuming it's designed for a machine with BIOS).

Its a little more complicated then you let on.

Bootcamp won't recognize the disc as a Windows Installation CD so you'll have to start the install manually. It should work though.

    Download bootcamp.
    Run the installer.
    Make the partition.
    Close bootcamp.
    Insert Ubuntu CD.
Restart (holding down option after the bong)
The mini should start up from the live CD.
You can install, but make sure you install on the correct drive.

Is possible that something might not work or go horribly wrong, so back up all your files before you go messing around. Beta software, unsupported operating systems, and altering of partitions generally shouldn't be mentioned in any one situation.
