I have an external 250GB Firewire hard disk with two partitions. Both are HFS+ formatted, now I have zeroed the smaller partition (60GB) and want to make it into a FAT32 format for windows XP installation. However, I would like to keep all the files in the larger partition unaffected during the process, the larger portion is an OS X startup drive. Is that possible? How should one go about this?

Disk Utility does not allow formatting in the MSDOS format for a partitioned hard disk.

My setup is a 17" Macbook Pro with 100GB of storage but I don't want to take up its precious HD space with windows XP. Thanks.
