My secondary sim is Verizon. Am I correct when I say that I cannot send sms from this line? If that is the case how can I make my phone send it from my primary att line? My employees are not getting my sms messages.

Try deleting the conversation in iMessage first. Then send your message, it’ll allow you to choose which line to send from.

You can’t use iMessage on both accounts, only one. The other is SMS only. No idea why this is ‍♂️

Okay. I think that is what I remember. Then I don’t know why they are not going through! I want them to be sms.

When you set up iMessage, it's only available for one number, not two. I've read some theories that Apple will introduce dual iMessage ability in the future. Whenever that is. This poses a problem for people who are involved in iMessage group chats because the non-iMessage party won't receive those texts.

So from either line I should be able to send green sms messages right?

I did sent iMessage today from both.

I changed my settings to send iMessage from email e.g. AppleID or any other trusted email. (Settings -> Messages -> Send & Receive -> Start new Conversations from)
In addition you have to allow to receive at that email.

This should work with group iMessage as well. You may first have to send a message to the group. It should update your group with your email and drop the phone number.

Yes, if the recipient isn’t iMessage enabled it’ll send SMS instead.

I’m a little annoyed actually because back when I had 2 iPhones (work and personal) both numbers were registered against my Apple ID and I could send and receive iMessages to both phones on both numbers without issue. It worked well.

With dual SIMs capability with 1 phone, I can’t. Any historical conversation you’ve had with someone over iMessage on the line that is now restricted to SMS only has to be deleted and re-created in order to continue...even if it’s another iMessage device.

I don’t understand why Apple have restricted this the way they have. Hopefully they’ll add iMessage capability on both line simultaneously in due course.

What if they are on an android...wouldn’t it just be sms automatically?

Make sure that “Send as SMS” is turned on. Maybe toggle the switch.

Or try to turn iMessage off completely and see what happens.
